Sunday. Fred did a lot of his personal work — which he had warned our guests about — but, it being the weekend, my work was quiet, so I hung with Nat and Chris. We decided to drive out to Portmagee, a coastal town about 40 minutes away, from which you can ferry over or take a bridge to Valentia Island. It had been built up in my mind as being a majorly important destination, but was a little underwhelming. CHARMING and beautiful, but super small. It was cold and rainy so as soon as we arrived, we tucked into the Bridge Bar (recommended by two different people) and had a great lunch and pints of Guinness or Murphy’s.
Then on to the westernmost point of Ireland (I think) the cliffs of Kerry.
Back home around 2:30, we prepared for the Kerry v. Mayo Irish Football game — an epic rivalry, apparently, and not to be missed. This was a classic Irish experience back at Mike Murt’s Pub. And we won, so there’s that, too. They say "Up the kingdom!" in support of Kerry.
